AI Gives No Eyes to the Blind. The Blind Still Lead the Blind

Read more about this drawing

This drawing belongs to the series Fake Dundas. It is inspired by Peter Bruegel’s The Blind Leading the Blind, itself an interpretation of a passage from the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 15:14): “If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”

In this work, Bruegel’s group is transposed in front of the Old Post Office in Dundas. The leading figure carries a stick with a plate attached to it, bearing a symbol of artificial intelligence: the letter A with an eye inside.

The meaning of Bruegel’s painting is brought forward into the contemporary age of artificial intelligence, while its philosophical content remains unchanged.

Here, Bruegel’s group is placed in front of the Old Post Office in Dundas. The leading figure carries a stick topped with a plate bearing a symbol of artificial intelligence: the letter A with an eye inside.

Bruegel’s original theme is thus reinterpreted through the contemporary presence of artificial intelligence, while the underlying philosophical meaning remains the same.
